About me

Spencer Maybe is a musician, artist, and ex-cabaret star from London, U.K.
He has been composing and playing music for over twenty years and has completed three full studio albums. He signed his first and only record deal when he was 25 with his first band but sadly the record company ran out of money and went bust before their first release. He worked for over 10 years as a busker on the London Underground where he was able to hone his musical skills, learning many classic songs from the 60/70/80/90's. He became a very successful Burlesque Dancer for 5 years and learnt how to engage and entrance an audience. This in turn inspired him to create a one man comedy, burlesque, mixed media musical which was based on his second album. He took this musical to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in both 2010 and 2011, where he received 4/5 star reviews. For the past few years Spencer has continued to write, perform and sing his music at many venues throughout the UK, South Africa, Sri Lanka, India and Spain.

Not only is Spencer Maybe a talented musician/songwriter his artistic talents include illustrating. After graduating in Fine Art from Manchester Metropolitan University, his first job was to illustrate a children's book and with his earnings he was able to buy his first guitar. He continued painting and he has written and illustrated his own children’s book The Band of Musicians.

Spencer is now back in the London mixing his 4th studio album which he recently recorded in India after a Crowd Funding Campaign. He has put together a great international band for the album featuring Peter Tegner (Sweden) Electric Guitar, Bunny Batliwala (Bombay/New York) Drums & Percussion, Denis Petukhov (Russia) Bass, Fred Stitz (Germany) Bass, Slide Guitar and Backing Vocals, Jim Peters (UK) Piano, Indian Flute and Backing Vocals. Each brings their own unique talent to the collective, facilitating a unique sound that has an instant familiarity to their audience.
